1) A huge, sincere thank-you! (oh, and we're in the news again)

We want to express major love for everyone who showed up to the meeting last Monday at Burritoville and/or to the tea-in on Thursday. We were so incredibly excited to meet all of you and can't get over how talented this year's collective is (did you know that überculture can juggle while baking cupcakes, silkscreening, and programming in C++?).

If you haven't had a chance to come out yet, fear not, but for those who have, please know this: we're incredibly proud to be your co-conspirators, and are even more excited than these Justin Bieber fans to have you on board.

Oh, and we made the Link newspaper again, talking about Concordia's intellectually-devoid "public" space policy. Way to go Gonzo! Pick up your copy or read it here.

>>2) The meeting is ON TUESDAY (the 21st) this week at the JAVA U coffee shop in the HALL BUILDING at 6 PM!

Normally, meetings are on Mondays at 6, but a few of us were traveling this weekend.

If you can't make it, that's okay -- however, we'll be talking about some important stuff, so try to be there (coffee is on Lex).

For people who normally have classes on Monday nights, don't worry. There are plenty of ways to get involved: read on in this message, and send us a note at uberculture at csu.qc.ca with anything you're interested in.

3) Urgent Action: $1 Tuition Campaign

If you pay tuition at Concordia, and think the idea of a tuition increase (or tuition generally) sucks, we're really urging you to join the $1 campaign (Read this brilliant explanation and join the facebook event ). In short, the CSU and GSA are asking you to pay $1 per day until the tuition payment deadline (September 30th) to send a message to the Concordia administration about accessible education. Remember, there's a reason it's still (comparatively) affordable to study in Quebec -- and it's because we fought for it!

4) Immediate ways to get involved with überculture

We get a ton of "how can I help?" requests. There are a few ways you can get involved in the immediate future that don't involve coming to regular meetings (which we still hope you'll do), so here they are.

a) Get ready for the Really, Really Free Market

The Really, Really Free Market is a periodic clothing/stuff swap we organize. It is normally super rad. The next one is tentatively on the 30th of September on the 7th floor of the Hall Building (we'll send out another email, don't worry). We need your help collecting stuff you no longer need (clothes, books, art, posters, etc.) that's in good condition and that someone else might like. We also need you to come to our meeting on Tuesday to help us poster for it!

b) Alternative Orientation: Go to it! (or even help table)

QPIRG's Alternative Orientation -- called disOrientation, with full deets available on their website -- is happening this week, from the 20th to the 24th. It's open to everyone, not just new students, and we highly recomend checking it out. We'll be at the tabling fair on the 22nd, and we'd love if you'd come visit us, or even help us table for a few hours.

c) Make our website suck less! (for designers, techies, bloggers, photogs)

If you have skills at making websites, like ours, suck less (specifically with Wordpress' CMS) and have mad skillz in HTML or CSS or graphic design (oooh, graphic designers, we love you so), please email uberculture at csu.qc.ca! We can give you cuddles, or magazine subscriptions, in exchange for your time and energy!

If you think you get the spirit of überculture and like to share, you can also blog for us at uberculture.wordpress.com . If writing or photoblogging is something that interests you, get in touch. Seriously!

d) Be our internet friend!

Join our facebook group!

Or, if you have Twitter, use the hashtag #uberculture to talk about the org. You can also follow Lex ( @lex_is ) and Nicola ( @robonicola ) for updates.

5) A reward for getting this far in the email.

Thanks for reading this far! Please take this link to Master Chief's extremely thorough explanation of culture jamming as our most humble thanks.

LOVE YOU FOREVER!
