Meetings/Meet-ups!
Okay, so if you haven't figured out already, we normally have meetings (or meet-ups, which sounds more fun) once a week, on Mondays at 5:30 PM at the JAVA U in the Hall Building . If you're interested in doing this, don't feel nervous about coming alone or for the first time: everyone is welcome. You don't have to be an active collective member to join in! If you can't make it on Mondays at that time because of a class or something, don't worry. There are plenty of ways you can get involved -- just email us so we can put you in touch with the right people (uberculture at csu.qc.ca).

This week's meeting will be the first where we discuss Buy Nothing Day plans (and start organizing the full week of culture jamming fun prior to it). On tap, we've got a political spoken word/open mic night (the Speak Easy), a musical flash mob, another (multi-day) Really Really Free Market, and all kinds of fun surprises. If these are things you're interested in helping to organize, or you think they suck and want to let us know, come to the meeting!

Thanks for coming to the Really Really Free Market!
To the hundreds of people who came to yesterday's first RRFM of the year, and everyone who brought in their stuff. We have tons of stuff left over, and will probably have to arrange an October event just to find a home for all these things! Pictures will be up on the blog ( right here! ) by Monday of all the people who came and found neat things. We think it will be nice and heartwarming to look at.

Thank you specifically to Vincent, Jason, Gonzo, Etienne, Nicola, and Erick (and anyone else who came out, donated, folded clothes, brought us snacks, etc.) for coming out and helping facilitate what is always a totally rad event.

Join our Facebook page! Jeez!
Seriously. Do it.

Tell your American friends to get really, really angry about this.
Please check this out if you care, at all, in the slightest, about the future of democracy and technology. From the site: "Just the other day, President Obama urged repressive regimes around the world to stop censoring the Internet. But at the same time, the United States Congress is hatching a plan to censor the Internet here at home. A new bill being debated this week would instruct the Attorney General to create an Internet blacklist of sites that US Internet providers would be required to block." Pass it on. It's a big deal.

SHAMELESS PLUG:
Lex, one of the überculture Coordinators, ran a blog with Justin Giovannetti, Editor-in-Chief of the Link , during the Toronto G20. They were gassed, beaten, and nearly arrested for a week straight just to bring you some scrap of the truth about police brutality and the criminalization of dissent in Canada. Now they've been invited as part of the Quebec delegation to the World Economic Forum, and need your help fundraising so they can afford to go! Justin will eat anything for $5. Please check it out.

As promised, an amazing kitten video:
His name is "Bear" and he's actually the unofficial überculture mascot (if you can't see it, blame Jenny, k?).

Have a great weekend, folks -- see you on Monday!

For the wild,
the übercrü
