BOYCOTT CHAPTERS/INDIGO! END ISRAELI APARTHEID!

As part of the international campaign for Boycott, Divestment and 
Sanctions against Israel.

In the context of a week of action against Israeli occupation and 
apartheid:

In early June, Palestinians will mark 40 years of Israel's illegal 
military occupation of the Palestinian West Bank, Gaza Strip and the 
Syrian Golan heights, and the 59th anniversary of the 1948 Palestinian 
Nakba ("great disaster" in Arabic) that saw the creation of the state of 
Israel through the displacement of over 750 000 indigenous Palestinians 
and the establishment of an exclusive, colonial state in historic 
Palestine.

Groups working in solidarity with the people of Palestine . living under 
apartheid, under occupation and in exile - against Israeli Apartheid have 
responded to a call from the Active Steering Committee of the Palestinian 
Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign and are holding actions 
globally to mark these anniversaries.

In Canada, a campaign to boycott Chapters/Indigo Bookstores has been 
launched to oppose the material support that Heather Reisman and Gerry 
Schwartz, the company's majority shareholders, are providing to Israeli 
Apartheid. Reisman and Schwartz have established a fund called "the HESEG 
Foundation for Lone Soldiers", a program of financial support for former 
'lone soldiers' in the Israeli military. In effect, the fund provides 
benefits to non-Israelis who go to fight in Israel's wars, in defence of 
apartheid and occupation. Major human rights organizations have accused 
the Israeli military of committing war crimes in the West Bank, Gaza 
Strip, and Lebanon. The HESEG Foundation contributes up to 3M$ per year to 
support non-Israeli soldiers fighting in the Israeli military.

Pickets of Chapters/Indigo against Israeli apartheid are taking place 
regularly in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Victoria and Halifax.

A national week of action has been called to denounce 40 years of Israeli 
occupation and 59 years of Israeli Apartheid: JOIN US on Saturday 2nd of 
June at 1pm, in a rally in front of Indigo Bookstore in downtown Montreal.

We will demand that majority shareholders of Chapters/Indigo publicly cut 
their ties with Israeli Apartheid!
