This event will feature the first public screening in Canada of a recently
released T.V. documentary on Soha Béchara. Béchara is a symbol of the movement
of national resistance against Israeli occupation of South Lebanon. A former
Lebanese political prisoner, Béchara spent 10 years in Khiam prison of south
Lebanon. Béchara was released in 1998 after a major international campaign for
her liberation.

The film documents Béchara's first visit to Lebanon following the 2006 Israeli
attack. This powerful documentary portrays Béchara's interactions and
discussions in Lebanon in the wake of the Israeli attack, demystifying
Hezbollah and Lebanese resistance, while examining the political complexities
of the country.

Tadamon! presents this film in an attempt to uncover common myths regarding
Lebanon and the Lebanese national resistance perpetuated by the Canadian
government and the mainstream media. Canada currently categorizes Hezbollah as
a "terrorist" organization, while Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, qualified the
devastating 2006 Israeli attack on Lebanon as a "measured response". Canada's
current political positions toward the Middle East undermine the legitimate
Lebanese and Palestinian national resistance. Domestically Canadian authorities
actively criminalize, utilizing "anti-terror" legislation, migrant communities
in North America who support popular movements against Israeli apartheid and
occupation.

Join Tadamon! for a popular film screening, aimed at creating a space for
genuine political debate regarding Hezbollah and Canada's position toward
Lebanon's national resistance.
