On July 12th 2006, Israel launched a savage military assault on Lebanon 
with the full diplomatic blessing of the Canadian & U.S. governments. 
Utilizing war machines & military equipment, in many cases produced by 
North American arm manufacturing corporations, Israel launched its attack 
on Lebanon.

Over 1200 Lebanese lost their lives, while more than 4000 others were 
injured, while over 1 million were displaced in the Israeli military 
campaign which destroyed tens-of-thousands of homes & the Lebanese 
national infrastructure. Children accounted for 1/3 of the dead and made 
up half of the internally displaced refugees of Lebanon.

In the southern suburb of Beirut alone, Israeli bombs destroyed 150 
apartment buildings and damaged another hundreds more, leaving between 
30,000 & 60,000 persons homeless. In southern Lebanon entire villages were 
destroyed, as 200,000 people still are unable to return to their homes.

The consequences of an estimated 1 million cluster bomblets dropped by 
Israel remain disastrous. An intolerably high rate of unexploded bomblets, 
combined with Israel's refusal to provide information required to 
facilitate their systematic elimination, has led to dozens of deaths since 
the end of the war and made the return of large numbers of civilians to 
south Lebanon unsafe.

In Canada, the Conservative government fully supported Israel's criminal 
actions in Lebanon, labeling Israeli's military campaign as "measured" and 
labeling Hezbollah as "terrorist". The Conservatives in Canada along with 
the U.S. government provided the necessary political cover-up for Israel.s 
savagery, while attempting to deny the Lebanese any right to resist 
Israeli aggression.

The Canadian government has justified its military campaign of Afghanistan 
utilizing similar "War on Terror" rhetoric. "Taliban" has become a 
propaganda term to dismiss any local resistance to foreign troops and to 
cover-up the identity of countless Afghan deaths throughout the country in 
recent months.

Tadamon! calls on YOU to march on October 28th, in opposition to Canadian 
imperialist policies in Afghanistan & throughout the world. Tadamon! 
invites you to take the streets in support of struggles for justice, 
dignity & self-determination. Demonstrate in support of a Middle East that 
belongs to the proud and defiant oppressed indigenous people of the region 
and not a region which belongs to U.S. oil corporations and Canadian war 
profiteers.
