An Evening of Presentations, Visuals, Films and Music in Celebration of
Movements for Social & Economic Justice in Lebanon....
Montreal launch of the Tadamon!, an international solidarity initiative of
a collective of social justice activists, organizing to lend support and
solidarity to grassroots movements for social & economic justice in
Lebanon in the context of the massive political changes taking place in
the country. Tadamon!, in Montreal operates through direct coordination &
organization with social justice activists between Beirut & Montreal.
Tadamon! Launch will Include:
----> Performance from: the HASSAN el-HADI BAND featuring Oud, Arabic
Flute, Banjo & Arabic Percussion. Hassan el-Hadi is an accomplished
composer, songwriter and singer as well as an impressive Oud player.
Originally from Marrakesh Morocco, where a diversity of Moroccan music &
culture merges, el-Hadi will hold a performance with his band which draws
inspiration from music from throughout the Arabic world including Lebanon

----> Film Screening: Featuring the projection of MAI MASIR's film WAR
GENERATION, a documentary filmed on the streets of Beirut during the
countries 15 year civil-war, which traces the life experiences of three
generations of young people as they struggle to survive in the war-torn
capital of Lebanon, Beirut.
----> Presentation / Slide-Show: From STEFAN CHRISTOFF, who spent the
summer of 2005 working in Lebanon as an independent media activist,
producing written, audio and visual reports on movements for social
justice in Lebanon.
----> Beats / Rhythms: DJ Leila P., will spins a collection of Arabic /
Persian sounds, mixed with hip-hop beats & rhythms....

Tadamon! [solidarity in Arabic], is a Montreal based collective of social
justice activists, working to lend support and solidarity to grassroots
political movements for social and economic justice in Lebanon.
In the context of historic political changes taking place in Lebanon,
Tadamon! through it's political work, aims to support struggles for social
justice and human rights of ALL people living in Lebanon, through direct
coordination and organization between activists in Beirut & Montreal.
In Montreal, Tadamon! aims to organize within the Lebanese Diaspora,
through popular education, cultural work and political action, which
address struggles facing the Lebanese community, such as immigration,
racism, poverty and labour rights.
Through organizing work both locally and internationally, Tadamon! aligns
itself with social justice movements in Lebanon, Canada and
internationally which are anti-capitalist & anti-authoritarian in nature.
