Thanks Kerry and Ki.
This would be great. I always appreciate the opportunity for us to get
together. It was great when we had our regular potlucks and it would
be good to catch up with each other and with the information Kerry has
to share with us.
Personally what's impacting me now is not only the new advertising
laws/lack of platforms, but also apparently how at least one of them
is funneling information to the US authorities.
Sundays are usually my most available day/evening.
Thanks,Libby

Kai was in touch with me after the panel I spoke on at the War on
Whores film screening to see if I would be willing to come a do a talk
with a group of sex workers. I am very happy to do so.
For those who don't know me, I'm a retired sex worker and was the
executive director of PACE Society from 2006-2012. I was involved with
Pivot Legal Society in the final appeal of Bedford v Canada in 2013
and testified to the Justice and Senate committees against the current
laws we have now.
One of my jobs right now is Policy Researcher for Pivot Legal Society
and I I also work as a community developer for Living in Community.
I'm working with Genevieve Fuji Johnson of SFU Political Science on
research related to sex work governance (meaning the ways that sex
workers form organizations and how they work to advance the rights of
sex workers) right now as well.
You may know me from Triple-X Workers Solidarity Association of BC -
we're the group that organizes the annual Red Umbrella Marches in
Vancouver.
I can speak to the impacts of the current laws and what is being done
to address these as well as discussing police enforcement practices
around sex work. I have had a hard time keeping up with the shifting
landscape regarding online platforms but can, at least, speak to the
laws that are causing these shifts.
And I hope this can be a bit of a reciprocal event! While I'm deeply
connected to DTES street-based sex workers through my work at Pivot, I
feel less connected to indoor workers and I don't many opportunities
to see you. So, if you have particular concerns you'd like to bring to
my attention, I hope you will do so.
Looking forward to seeing you!
In solidarity,
Kerry
