[SWAF-Potluck] Student Request

Hi all,

I try not to reach out to this group with requests like this but a fine
arts student at UBC reached out to me through Pivot about a project he
wants to do that involves photography. Surprisingly, not him photographing
sex workers (!) but he wants to hire a sex worker to photograph a portrait
of him. I spoke to him on the phone today and gave him some basics about
approaching sex workers and being mindful and that he should expect to be
paying between $100-$250/hour for this. I asked him whether he'd thought
about him being photographed nude since he was talking about sex workers
being the only nude models in the past and he hadn't give that much thought
but that he wasn't completely averse to the idea.

Anyway, I know some of you are very artistic and I thought this could
potentially be a cool project. His blurb and email are below. (I didn't
give him a single detail about this group, by the way.)

My name is Dash Maxwell and I am a Fine Arts student studying at the
University of British Columbia. I am working on a project which
investigates power dynamics within art history, as well as the roles of
women, sex workers and the male gaze. Im looking to work with members of
the sex trade industry, due to their frequent role in the western art
canon. For this project I would like to hire someone who is/was an active
member of the sex trade to shoot my portrait. I am unsure how to reach out
safely to members of the sex trade industry and I was wondering if it would
be possible to schedule a meeting with someone to advise me on the best way
to do this.
