[SWAF-Potluck] MTV wants to provide a platform for sex worker parents who advocate decrim

Hey friends,

I have been invited with my 16-yr-old daughter to participate in a
documentary about teens with parents in the sex industry. It will be played
along with a series of other one hour docs about "fringe lifestyles" on
MTV. The producer, Sandra, wants to give us a platform to promote
decriminalization and challenge the stigma of working in the sex industry.
They found me through my article on the naked truth: Ten Reasons Sex

First I would like to vouch for her sincerity. Both my daughter and I have
already done one-hour, taped interviews each with Sandra and she is an
ally. If I'm wrong, I will be completely astonished. She really would like
to focus the documentary on sex industry workers in the Lower Mainland, if
possible, although she has extended the invitation in Canada and the United
States. It would be easier for them to film in one area and she is amped to
include my daughter and I (because of our charming personalities, I'm sure.
lol).

The problem is that we need more sex worker activists from the Lower
Mainland who are comfortable being in a documentary on MTV to participate.
The obvious preference is parents and their teens both being interviewed,
but she is somewhat flexible. For instance, if someone would like to talk
as a parent but not have their child featured, that is possible. Because
 she would also like to provide us with a platform for our activist
impulses, ideally you would be comfortable talking about why you support
decrim as well.

She is moving forward with this quite quickly, so if you have any interest
at all, I encourage you to contact her for more information. Then you can
choose if you'd like to be involved or not. I hope there are some of you
who will!

I was thinking of Barb from Vangroovy (with your heart-wrenching story of
criminalization and how it impacted your kids) - would you possibly be
interested? Anyone else?

Step-parents, moms, dads - if you are comfortable being out and you don't
hide your job from your kids, please consider joining me on this adventure.
