All coconut oils are not created equally….unsanitary collection practices in 3rd world counties make some brands a lower quality product and possibly not clean. I personally use this brand we sell for lube and massage and it’s the best I have found. Vera

Subject: [SWAF-Potluck] massage oil suggestions

Hey gang,

I need a bit of advice here, please.

I usually use coconut oil for my massages, sometimes with a bit of raw sesame oil in it, which is really good for the skin, accordingto Ayurveda (ancient Indian health sciences).

Lately I've been using just coconut oil. Sometimes I also use some lavender oil and/or tea tree oil if I feel I need an extra bit of sterility/anti- bacterialness. I've been doing that quite a bit more lately, and have probably been doing more sessions than normal here in Toronto.

So recently I've developed a rash on my chest, and doing a bit of research on the internet, it's possible the rash is from any or all three of these things - the coconut oil, the lavender oil, or the tea tree oil. I also read that lavender oil and tea tree oil combined can cause a reaction. It's also possible my coconut oil is not of the best quality. It has a VERY strong toasted coconut scent, like I'm making macaroons! Although I've used lower end coconut oil before without a problem.

The other possibility is that people in Toronto might have more or different bacteria on their skin than in Vancouver, and my skin is not liking the body slide on their skin. But still, the rash is mainly on my chest, and I always make them take showers before a session (learned that a while back through a rash, too).

So my question is, what other oils do you use for your massages?

And what other essential oils or similar do you use for extra cleanliness?

I can't stop working but I really need to clear this rash up!!

Any other thoughts, ideas or suggestions are also welcome.

Thanks alot!

Libby
