granted, i would suggest that vancouver is a unique place where we could engage in these kinds of planning activities and not face repercussions or enforcement either from the CoV or the police.
we can freely associate without fear because of the public non enforcement policies of both the city and police.
i also feel that we as a community are the key to creating the solutions, laying the ground work for the future of sex work in our country. that if we can come together and define some these ideas, refine some of the work that's already been done, we could create a frame work for exiting for example or retirement.
if people here would like to work on these ideas some more, i think that would kick ass!!
i feel like instead of finding reasons why something won't work or maybe in conflict with federal policies, we should take advantage of the open environment created by work advocates have done in vancouver and forge ahead in spite of the new legal framework....
in the senate and parliamentary justice committees members said over and over that "cooperative" activities were not criminalized under the new law....
anyway, exiting strategies seems to be what the conservatives really want, so i am pretty sure no one would get into trouble for meeting to discuss exiting strategies...
love susie

Some great ideas, Susan! 😊
Unfortunately i believe the material benefits section of PCEPA outlaws co-operative efforts. Nowhere does it say that its okay to habitually hang out with a sex worker if you are another sex worker. And, specifically refers to being engaged together in a commercial sex enterprise.
I could be wrong, but it my opinion the material benefits section clearly violates a sex worker's right to associate.
