Hi Kamile,

That is a very good question.

I had heart surgery two years ago and when I recently tried to return to
the business I found it too stressful to do on my own. I have been doing
entry level temp labour work...
I would be very interested to hear about funds or training avaliable.

I am also concerned that funding for retraining and education should be
directed or selected by the individual sex worker according to her own
choices needs and abilities and also programmes acknowledge skills aquire
by or even natural to sex workers such as empathy, tact, social skills,
etiquette, telephone skills. There also needs to be an understanding that
many sex workers are educated in other unrelated professions. They may
have stopped an earlier career or dropped out of college, had children ...

I tried an exit program once and only lasted for one day there because the
programe was too general and assumed that I had no education or skills at
all and had emotional problems. I have also tried programs meant for
disabled people or for people finding difficulty getting employment and for
me they were too long, involving silly aptitude tests which at my age, were
quite useless and humiliating, telling me things I already know.

For example, I am a published writer, who also has a lot of unfinished
work. All I really would like is access to a typing class, a place nearby
with Internet and a bit of tech support.

I do not want some eight to ten month class with free bus tickets, crappy
sandwiches and hours of staring at self esteem flip charts orchestrated by
somebody who is getting paid while I am not. That is very bad for the self
esteem .

OK. That's my rant. If anyone has any useful info about decent jobs or
useful real education, free industrial first aid classes without self
esteem pandering, let me know !
