[SWAF-Potluck] Impact of the new laws on business

Great idea Aanya! One thing to let your clients know is that the law
doesn't change until 30 days from today. Doesn't really make much
difference at this point but good to know, all the same.

For anyone confused about advertising, you can't be charged for placing an
ad or running a website but, the advertiser or web host can be if the
advertising is explicitly for sexual services. I think it will be unlikely
that enforcement will go after advertisers or web hosts in Vancouver but
that won't change the behaviour of the advertiser/web host as many will
start rejecting sex work ads.

Some groups in Vancouver are pressuring for a meeting with senior officials
from the VPD to see if they'll issue a public statement, similar to the one
they made when the medical cannabis laws changed, stating that they won't
be setting up indoor john stings. If they are willing to get that message
out to clients, that will be a major coup. We're working hard on this and
I'll keep you informed.

Stay strong everyone!

Kerry
