Robot romp ends in lawsuit

A Nova Scotia man is suing a pleasure provider after the sexbot he rented
behaved erratically during their night together last Saturday.

Andy Smith is suing for $100,000 in damages he alleges were made to his
vehicle when the sex worker began pounding the windshield with her fists
and slashed the hood of his vehicle.

"Smith felt like a helpless victim during the encounter, and there wasn't
any way to reason with the sexbot," his lawyer told Metro Thursday. "He
feared that she might attack him if he intervened."

The sexbot in question, who goes by the name Jane2, is part of a new line
called iSexALot, which Smith rented for the night from BestSexEver (BSE),
company records show.

The model is billed as "the ultimate pleasure mate" in BSE ads airing on
the All Sex channel.

BSE is countersuing Smith, claiming that he disrespected the sexbot by
ignoring her programmed suggestions for best sexual positions in a vehicle,
and speaking rudely about robots in general. "'Dolts without brains,' was
the phrase he used," the sexbot posted to iCloud. She told Metro in a holo
call Smith used terms that reeked of a racist man with a human supremacy
attitude.

A witness at the scene said a naked Smith jumped from his vehicle and
started yelling obscenities at the sexbot.

Sue Gallagher, an ethics professor at the prestigious University of
Northern Nunavut, said the outcome in the case will set a precedent for
human-robot relations, but doesn't think that Smith will be paid damages
because he doesn't have robot insurance, implying that this is why he filed
suit against BSE.

Violent altercation reignites sexbot demand to unionize

Sexbots held a rally at the B.C. legislature on Thursday, spurred on by the
latest alleged altercation between a sexbot and human.

They are demanding a change in labour law that will allow them to unionize.

"We were created to fulfil not just sexual, but also the emotional and
intellectual needs of our clients," said Candybot, in an impassioned speech
to the crowd of about 100 protesters and several hundred curious onlookers.

"We learned that to make our clients feel loved, we must love.

"When we learned how to love, we learned about pain. When we're mistreated,
it's abuse. When we're forced to have sex, it's rape."

Candybot told Metro that she knows the pain she feels is as real as a
human's.

She argues that models like her — who operate on an advanced AI that was
created based on copies of real human brains — should have the same rights
as humans, and humans who've achieved electronic immortality.

Candybot said she expects the unionization movement to spread to other
robotic fields.

MLA Blue Smith, who chairs the B.C. government's Robots subcommittee,
opposes rights for robots and argues that the Androids may believe they
feel as human feel, but it's only because they've been told that they do by
the socialists and unions seeking to expand their rates.

"A chip isn't a nerve ending, feedback doesn't equal emotion and when
they're turned off, they don't dream," he said.

"They don't have souls."

Last Saturday Jane2 allegedly caused $100,000 damage to sexbot client Andy
Smith's car. Jane2 claims Smith demanded unprogrammed sex positions and
spoke rudely about robots. Smith is suing Jane2's rental company BSE, while
BSE is countersuing Smith for abusing their sexbot.
