Two Vancouver sex workers violently assaulted

Women were attacked near Kingsway and Tyne Street, police say

Vancouver police are looking for a man who allegedly assaulted two female
sex trade workers on Sept. 2.

Around 5:30 a.m. PT, police say a man approached a sex trade worker on
Kingsway near Tyne Street. He allegedly asked for sex, then became very
agitated, demanded his money back and punched the woman in the face. She
screamed and the man fled on foot, police said.

Officers responding to calls and began searching for the suspect. During
that search, police say they located a second victim who informed officers
she had also just been attacked in a similar manner.

In her case, a man requesting sex for money, hit her in the arm with a bat
or pipe after demanding his money back, police said.

A number of officers and a police dog searched for the suspect, but were
not successful.

The first woman suffered a bruised face, while the other had a possible
elbow fracture.

Police say the suspect is believed to be white, in his mid-20s, clean
shaven, with a slim build. He was wearing jeans, a grey or beige sweatshirt
and a red baseball cap.

Anyone who witnessed the incidents or has any information is asked to call
Vancouver police or Crime Stoppers if they wish to remain anonymous.
