There is a demo at the Russian consulate tonight (Sept third) at 6;30 pm.
promoted by Speak Up. It is to protest the repression of gay people in
Russia right now. I think it will be well attended. Organizers suggest we
could wear red clothing and bring rainbow flags if possible....though some
of us might have some red clothes left from June...email me for more info.

(and Happy Back to School...for some. I found out recently that there is
some financial support available for post secondary education to SOME
children/young adults who have spent time in government care in B.C. There
is a time limit - I think the support/bursary ends when the child reaches
24 years old. More info could be obtained from high school and college
counsellors, the B.C. govt (try phoning Inquiry B.C.) or maybe, if you
trust them, a social worker or adoption case manager. I am not an expert on
this but recently found out about it though someone who works in
adoptions.....also read that one of of the colleges on Vancouver Island has
eliminated tuition for kids that have been in care, again I am not an
authority on this, but  it is worth looking into if you've had such
difficulties and children of that age.
