Hello everyone, apologies for any confusion my last effort to promote this event to the list may have caused people. I had tried to email the Gallery's event poster, which unbeknownst to me was massive. I'm sure they don't know that either. In any case, below a small intro to the panel with the location, date and time info added.

Gallery Gachet Panel Sex work and the Power of Art 

Date: Sunday, October 7, 4 - 5:30 pm

Place: 88 East Cordova (Cordova/Columbia)

A reminder of what promises to be a really interesting and inspiring event, co-sponored by PACE and FIRST. 

The highlight panel guest is  Chantawipa Apisuk, known as Noi.  Noi is  internationally respected as the founder of the Empower Foundation, an organization that advocates for the rights of sex workers in Thailand.  Empower uses art and cultural performances to inspire  people to challenge the traditional beliefs they hold and to explore creating new traditions where recognition and acceptance of differences gives value to the inclusion of each individual as an important part of the whole. 

Sue Davis and Shauna Paull are also featured on the panel with Sue taking the lead on issues related to Vancouver sex workers  with a focus on the sex workers cooperative. As some of you may know, Sue's artistic expression comes out in any number of ways and I think most beautifully in the gorgeous corsets she both designs and sews.

Shauna is a celebrated BC writer, poet  and teacher who works with women in the DTES.  She's also western Canada's representative for the Global Alliance Against Trafficking in Women, an international anti-trafficking organizations that, among many other issues, works  to educate the public and governments on the differences between consensual adult sex work and trafficking. 

Really, a once in a life time panel that should not be missed.
