(Please forward widely) StopWar,
Vancouver's anti-war coalition since 2002, invites you to take part in our
annual Remembrance Day leafleting action to expose the terrible reality of
the First World War. We are appalled that the Harper government
is spending tens of millions of dollars to "celebrate" the 100th
anniversary of this terrible conflict, which killed over ten million
people - not for democracy or human rights, but for the sake of
empire-building. We will meet on Tuesday,
Nov. 11, 10:00 am at the Stadium Skytrain entrance at Dunsmuir and Beatty
(downtown end of the Georgia Viaduct). As always, our
intention is to respectfully encourage people to think about the real
causes and impacts of war – without getting into debates with those
who might disagree with our views. Please join us! Here is the link to
our Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1581483478746813/?ref=6&ref_notif_type=plan_user_invited
We also encourage people to take in another
important Remembrance Day activity - a special screening of the classic
anti-war film "All Quiet On The Western Front," Tuesday, Nov.
11, 1:00 pm at the WISE Hall, 1882 Adanac. Tickets are $10, the film is
being shown by the World Peace Forum Society and SFU Labour
Studies.
