1) Sat. Aug 24: Rally against the massacres in Egypt

Part of a cross-Canada Day of Action

Saturday, August 24, 12 noon

at Robson Square behind the Vancouver Art Gallery

Featuring special guest Tom Hayden, author, anti-war activist and former
US State Senator for California

The message of the rally is "STOP THE MASSACRES & RESTORE DEMOCRACY IN
EGYPT". This is the only way forward for Egypt out of this tragic mess.

Our challenge is to persuade Canada to take a more positive stance on the
crisis in Egypt. We need to change what is an apparent lack of concern
from our Canadian government and officials, and we need to improve the
inconsistent and unclear Canadian media reports on the matter.

We must stand together and get as much support from every community as
possible, regardless of background. The more people join our just cause,
the more the government and the media will agree to deal positively with
the current crisis in Egypt.

The rally this Saturday, August 24th will take place at the Vancouver Art
Gallery, Robson side, corner of Hornby St, Vancouver at 12 noon. We are
inviting leading personalities in Vancouver to join us and speak.

2) Free Tarek Loubani and John Greyson

Two Canadians, Dr. Tarek Loubani and filmmaker John Greyson, were arrested
by Egyptian police on Friday, August 16 in Cairo.

They were en route to the Gaza Strip, where they are working on an
academic and medical collaboration between the University of Western
Ontario (UWO) and the main hospital in the Gaza Strip, the al-Shifa
hospital.

The Canadian Peace Alliance is adding our name to the call for the
