2) Public Forum: NATO HANDS OFF LIBYA!
The Libyan People, Not NATO, Must Determine The Country's Future!

A Public Forum to Discuss the Past, Present, and Future of Libya

Thursday, September 15, 7pm
W2 Woodwards, 111 West Hastings (Basement)

Organized by Stopwar.ca

Speakers:

Derrick O’Keefe
Dave Markland

Contact: stopwar at resist.ca

Join Stopwar.ca, Vancouver’s broad anti-war coalition, for a forum on the
continuing struggle of the Libyan people for self-determination, and
against the continued NATO presence in Libya.

>From the beginning of the uprising against the Gadaffi regime, Stopwar has
supported their right of the Libyan people to a free and democratic
society. For that reason, we opposed the NATO bombing of Libya. Freedom
cannot be delivered by the armies and warplanes of NATO countries. These
are the former colonial rulers of Libya who have propped up dictatorial
regimes throughout the Middle East and North Africa and have brought ruin
to Iraq and Afghanistan.

The overthrow of the Gaddafi regime does not end the struggle for freedom
in Libya. A new stage now opens, in which the imperialist military and
political presence are a serious threat to the Libyan peoples'
aspirations. We call on the Canadian government to cease its participation
in the NATO intervention in Libya. We call on NATO to withdraw its
military forces and advisers from Libya.

BLOCK PARTY TO BLOCK CONDOS ON THE 100 BLOCK
Sat. Sep 17 at around 4 pm
Music, food, and the last bit of summer sun!

Marc Williams wants to build condos at the old Pantages Site in the
Downtown Eastside. Condos in the heart of the neighbourhood will cause
higher property values, higher rents in single-room occupancies,
displacement of current residents, increased policing, and low-income
residents feeling unwelcome in their own neighbourhood.

We are getting the neighbourhood and all our allies together to protect
the site for 100% social housing for low-income residents. The DTES is not
for developers to make millions, it is for our vibrant and vital
low-income community!

4) BEYOND THE PALESTINIAN STATEHOOD INITIATIVE:
Freeing Palestine and Delegitimizing Israel

A TEACH-IN AND DISCUSSION
Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011
2:00 PM-4:30 PM
Vancouver Public Library
Alma VanDusen Room
350 West Georgia St.
Vancouver, BC

Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=241166679261361

The Palestinian Authority's "September statehood initiative" - in which
the United Nations will be asked to recognize Palestine as a member state
upon the convening of the UN General Assembly in September - has led to a
great deal of discussion and media coverage about Palestine,
self-determination and statehood. What does the statehood initiative
really mean? What are its implications for the Palestinian struggle for
liberation, and for the Palestinian people, inside and outside Palestine?

Join the Boycott Israeli Apartheid Campaign (BIAC) for a teach-in and
facilitated discussion about the Palestinian "statehood initiative,"
raising critical questions and analysis about the statehood initiative and
its implications for the Palestinian movement - and what we can do in
Canada to support freedom, liberation and return for Palestine and
Palestinians, including the global campaign for Boycott, Divestment and
Sanctions (BDS).

Saeb Erekat of the PA recently stressed that the PA has no desire to
"delegitimize Israel," using the same term as the organized Zionist
movement in denouncing the "delegitimization of Israel." In fact,
delegitimizing the illegitimate is precisely the struggle of the
Palestinian movement for liberation - and exactly the goal of BDS,

Featuring Discussions:
"Palestinian Struggle: Liberation or Statehood?"
"Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions: Global Solidarity for Palestine"
"Canada and Israel: Settler-Colonial United Front"

Israeli Apartheid Campaign at boycottapartheid at gmail.com
