    Afghanistan, join us for the opening session of the Canadian
      Peace Alliance Convention on Friday night and an anti-war
    march to the Occupy Bay Street event on Saturday.

      Panel discussion Afghanistan: Ten years of war and resistance

    An assessment of the anti-war movement over the last decade and
    discussion about next steps by anti-war movement activists from
    across the continent.

    

    Featuring: 

    Judith Leblanc: Judith is the Field Director for Peace
    Action, the largest grassroots peace organization in US and a member
    of the Caddo Tribe of Oklahoma. She worked with United for Peace and
    Justice starting in 2003, serving on the national steering committee
    and two terms as national co chair 2005-2007. 

    Suraia Sahar: Suraia is the founder of Afghans for Peace, an
    alliance of Afghans from various ethnic, religious, socio-economic,
    cultural, and political backgrounds with a united vision for a
    democratic, all inclusive, just and peaceful Afghanistan. AFP
    consists of students, professionals, community leaders, and
    socio-politically aware activists. The mission of AFP is to mobilize
    Afghans world-wide (internal and abroad) to take a firm stance
    against war and occupation in Afghanistan and demand Afghan people
    be allowed their right to self determination.

    Derrick O'Keefe: Derrick is a writer, editor and social
    justice activist in Vancouver, BC. Derrick is the co-chair of the
    Vancouver StopWar Coalition and the Canadian Peace Alliance, the
    country's largest network of anti-war groups. He is the co-writer of
    Afghan MP Malalai Joya's political memoir, A Woman Among Warlords:
    The Extraordinary Story of an Afghan Who Dared to Raise Her Voice,
    and the author of a forthcoming Verso book on Michael Ignatieff.
    Derrick served as rabble.ca's editor from 2007 to 2009.

    Occupy
      Bay Street - Not Afghanistan!

    At 1 PM on Saturday October 15, we will be marching from the CPA Convention
    site at Ryerson
      University to the Occupy Toronto
    event to mark the ten year anniversary of the war in Afghanistan and
