Greetings UBC Social Justice Centre,

I'm writing on behalf of a new local grassroots organization, Solidarity Against Patriarchy. We are a group of (mostly) men working for gender equality and against sexism. Our group was created partly as a direct response to the sexist and oppressive Vancouver Men's Rights Activism that gained traction over the past year, but mainly with the recognition that, as men assisting in the struggle against patriarchy, we must take the responsibility to critically examine our own beliefs, ideas and actions, and make ourselves non-oppressive in everyday life.

We've recently begun organizing a public event to invite feminist activists to discuss what "solidarity against patriarchy" might look like, or what should it be. We are wondering if the UBC Social Justice Centre has available funding to support our event. Our goal is to raise approx. $250-$300 for renting accessible space and cover event promotion cost.
