1) Name of the group. Concern was expressed about the acronym SAP. it was
suggested that the acronym is a dismissive name for the work that we want
to do, indicating a lack of seriousness and a possibly inappropriate ironic
tone. it was decided that SAP would be okay for internal purposes, but all
public statements / actions would be made under the full name, Solidarity
Against Patriarchy.

Related to the name, we decided to make a Facebook page where we could
distribute info and resources anonymously as Solidarity Against Patriarchy.
We should try to preserve our personal anonymity when doing work as a
group. The page has been set up.

Harjap will try to get the website up. Chris will make PDF versions of the
posters for distribution.

2) Posters. we discussed the "Don't Be A Creep" posters. While it seems to
have been well-received and we are generally happy with it, reservations
were expressed about the language of some of the posters, specifically the
tip that starts "Deal with the fact". "Deal" seemed ambiguous and unclear.
Options for revising that language are currently being discussed on the
list.

3) Sexual / gender-based harassment in public. We discussed a recent
incident which brought up the problem of random acts of sexual /
gender-based harassment. it was noted that the police will not and / or
cannot respond to situations like this, and that police intervention is
often also traumatizing. the solution needs to be a cultural one. It was
suggested that we might do some research on alternative forms of
intervention.

4) Speaking event. we will try to schedule a speaking event for the end of
february, after the Women's Memorial March (feb. 14) and before
International Women's day (March 8). Feb 27 or 28 were suggested as
possible dates. Harjap will contact possible indigenous speakers, and
follow up with fathima jaffer. Peter will look into booking the Mt.
Pleasant neighbourhood house.

5) Fundraising / co-sponsorship for the event. Darren will contact UBC
social justice club, reg will contact SFU PIRG.

6) For the next meeting, Harjap will forward reading around the Delhi gang
rape case.

7) We want to remind ourselves that we want to deal with the topic of
pornography at some point, with readings and films. a screening of the film
"The Price of Pleasure" with some invited friends and other interested
people, not quite a public event, but also larger than the group, so that
the film can be seen and discussed in a broader context of experience.
