Dear Friend:
The 109th Congress will convene in January. Every two years, a
new Congress begins, with 100 Senators and 435 House Members
all present with new ideas and priorities for their states and
their constituents.
In the past several months, I have crisscrossed Californiafrom
the borders of both Oregon and Mexico through forests, deserts,
farmlands and coastal shoreslistening to Californians. Ive
been in our biggest cities and in tiny towns across our state,
hearing from thousands of people. I appreciated the views of
each of them. Now I hope to hear from you about your
priorities for the coming Congress.
At my website at http://boxer.senate.gov you will find a link
to my online survey about your priorities for the coming
Congress. I hope you will take a few minutes to consider the
actions that you think would most benefit our nation, and let
me know your thoughts.
The coming Congress could be a contentious one. We will be
asked to consider fundamental changes in Social Security and in
our tax code. We need to address the ballooning national debt.
And, of course, there is the continuing conflict in Iraq, which
is costing our nation both lives and resources. I look forward
to hearing your thoughts on these and other issues.
Sincerely,
Barbara Boxer
United States Senator
