Local Actions for Tenzin Delek

                  Whether you're part of an SFT chapter or an individual supporter, you have been hearing about, and taking action for, Tenzin Delek Rinpoche for many months now. The time left for us to influence the Chinese government's decision on Tenzin Delek Rinpoche is short - his case will be decided when the two year reprieve on his death sentence ends between December 2004 and January 2005. With enough people worldwide speaking up for Tenzin Delek, we can make sure that he is not executed, and free him. 


                  In order to maximize the impact of efforts to save Rinpoche's life, SFT is coordinating different activities you can do each month to mobilize more support for his case and increase the pressure on the Chinese government to free him. Please participate this month: hold a "Free Tenzin Film Night" to raise awareness at your school or in your community about Tenzin Delek's plight. 


                  Here is how you can go about putting together this event: 


                  1) Organize a film screening using a moving new film, "Devotion and Defiance," about religious persecution in Tibet. Speak afterwards about Tenzin Delek Rinpoche's case using information from the SFT website, and ask the audience to sign postcards and petitions to help save his life. 

                  2) Set up a table in any busy public place - at a fair, a school, a community center, etc. Bring petitions, postcards, and fact sheets about Tenzin Delek Rinpoche. 


                  Here are the tools we can provide for you: 

                  1) "Devotion and Defiance," a moving new film about religious persecution in Tibet. Order free by emailing campaigns at studentsforafreetibet.org (please include your name and mailing address). DVD format, 35 minutes.

                  2) Postcards relevant to your country, available from:
