Hello!

We’re looking for a lovely human (or couple) to share our house in
Rockridge. We live on a tree-lined residential street tucked between
College Ave and Broadway, one block from restaurants, bars, and shops. BART
is less than an 8 minute walk. Temescal is a ~15 minute walk or a quick
bike ride, and the campus is straight up College Ave. Despite our proximity
to the hustle and bustle, our little corner of Rockridge is very quiet and
neighborhood-y which is why we like it.

We are two couples in our late 20s-early 30s. Five of us moved into this
house last year and our current fifth-wheel is moving out in August. We
also have an eccentric orange tabby cat, Esme, who is a delight but doesn’t
get along with other animals. Sadly, this means that we cannot accept pets.

We have all lived in communal housing situations and this is by far our
favorite. Here are some things we’ve learned:

   -

   The energy in the house is social and laid back. We aren’t big party
   people, but we love to entertain, hang out, and be merry. We have different
   levels of extraversion/introversion and we respect each other’s needs, but
   a person who likes house meals and making friends will be happiest here.
   -

   We enjoy taking care of our house and making it a space that everybody
   wants to spend time in. We like to keep the house clean and organized, and
   are often working on projects. That said, life happens.
   -

   Regular house meetings are helpful! We approach this with intentionality
   and value open communication. It’s not ideological, we just find that it
   helps the house run better.
   -

   We’re friends and we take care of each other.
   -

   We aren’t looking for anyone in particular. Just someone(s) who is
   committed to creating a home with us.


The room is 11’x12.5’ (space for a queen or king bed) and has a large
closet with built-in storage. All pictured furniture is for sale (and
priced to sell!). If you’d prefer the room to be unfurnished, that’s okay
too! The room gets awesome light from south and west-facing windows and
features a built-in bookcase. It shares a spacious bathroom with one
couple.

The house is a 2,400 sqft, 4 bed/2.5 bath Rockridge craftsman with hardwood
floors. All bedrooms are located upstairs, including a shared guest room
that everyone is welcome to use. 🙂 Downstairs there’s a large living room,
dining room, half-bath/laundry room, and eat-in kitchen. The kitchen is
fully equipped with a gas range, dishwasher, big pantry, etc. and lots of
fun gadgets (kitchen aid, steam toaster, ice cream maker, and more).

The outside is where we focus a lot of our time and energy. We’re building
out a livable space in the backyard including raised vegetable beds, comfy
seating area, and a dining set. There’s some room for improvement, so we
hope you like to get your hands dirty!

The room costs $1600/month plus utilities which vary month to month but
average $70 per person. We installed a mesh router system so you get great
wifi signal everywhere in the house (even the backyard!).

We know that house hunting is a lot of work and we don’t want this to feel
too big/dreadful. Please don’t write us a novel. Just take a couple of
