Also, I meant no slight to non-ML Marxists, social democrats, democratic socialists, by not bringing them up before. But, clearly, those who think a parliamentary pathway is important are committed to working with the hierarchical state structures which exist, regardless of how much they may also believe such structures should be abolished. The draft is showing a lot of thought and work. I wonder if the way we talk about colonization or colonialism is as sharp as we might get it, yet. On the one hand, most of the focus there historically has been about Western European (and derivative settler colony) aggression and empire. However, there are other peoples with a stake in the colonization issue. The Russian Empire expanded eastward to the Pacific and the current Russian state still controls many colonized populations. How do we talk about national liberation movements there, such as in Chechnya? Or, what about how we talk about Kurdish national liberation within Turkey? Also, I suggest we move the points about environmental sanity up to the top of the list and separate climate change out from other environmental and conservation issues. mk

I second Monty on this. Thanks for writing that up.

Brandon, all, As much as I and others of self-described libertarian left tendencies agree with 'opposition to hierarchy' or agree with another term which we have heard raised also, 'anti-authoritarian', we cannot expect to forge a working coalition of the type we are attempting if we insist on such terms. Organizations and individuals who believe some form of 'democratic centralism' is a core principle for themselves are likely to regard some forms of hierarchy as a good thing. Therefore, this could be a splitter issue and it could be objectively a sectarian and divisive stance to push to have it be included in points of unity. mk

Hi all,
Not sure if this is the medium for bring up an observation I have with a specific point, but shouldn't point 4 also contain access to free education as a human right too? Another observation (though perhaps it's implied with "self-determination and liberation" throughout it all) is a point regarding our opposition to hierarchy.
