[Sdalliance] Request for feedback on Mission Statement

*On the question of liberals*
Monty has been raising a good question but I don't think it has to be as
simple as wondering whether liberals should be in or out. Here are some
additional options:


*1) Meeting structure/environment*
One option is to create structures/ways of operating that are unattractive
to superficial liberal participation. For instance: 5 hour meetings
governed by consensus, and strict expectations for how people communicate
with one another, are not for everyone. Robert's Rules, however, are very
friendly to liberals familiar with moving power through that system


*2) Progressive participation*
Some organizations operate with levels of participation. At the bottom, you
do not have to agree with any principle to make donations. At the top, key
organizers/committee chairs etc must be in full agreement with the
principles, and open to constructive critique when they act against them


*3) Frequent orientations*
If we were interested in either of the above, it would be worth scheduling
new member orientations where the principles and structure are
explained/discussed in detail. My general belief is that the kind of person
folks are concerned about will self-select out of the coalition, but only
if given enough information to do so
