[Sdalliance] Organize against "Walk for Life"!

Hi Companerxs!


Last night, Arnie and I attended  a meeting to organize against  "Walk For
Life," the yearly anti-choice rally held in Balboa Park, hosted by Claire
from ISO, at Groundwork Chollas Creek. I provide the following info to
y'all in the hopes that we can make a decision as to whether or not we, as
CRSD, and as individual orgs, would like to participate in this. I
personally feel that it's important to stand up for repro rights wherever
we are able, and that will be a low-stress, yet meaningful way to do so, if
we can get numbers out.

 The anti-choice rally/walk will take place at 8:30 on Jan 20th at Balboa
Park, so Claire was thinking it would be a good way to get energy up and
center repro rights and health as we move to the main event, the Women's
march.

The anti-choicers will have a stage w/ speakers, some vendors, and then do
a 1 mile walk around the park. they do this yearly, and I looked at some of
the photos of 2016 with Arnie, and to him it looked like they had roughly
200 people.

I signed up for the outreach/community engagement working group, so we need
as many orgs as we can get to come out and support. Claire is talking to
Planned Parenthood, NARAL, Healthcare for All California, and a few other
progressive repro justice/health orgs. I've reached out to contacts in the
Unitarian churches in both Santee and Mission Hills.

I'm also reaching out to all of you, to see what sort of involvement CRSD,
and the orgs therein, can provide. I think it's a low-risk action, but it
would be really cool to unite with other orgs on this very important issue.
Claire mentioned that the Women's March would be able to cross-publicize as
well, which would be immensely beneficial.

The next meeting is Wednesday 27 Dec, at 5:30p/17:30 at Groundwork Chollas
Creek.

Can someone remind me of the next CRSD meeting date/time? I can happily
draft a proposal to participate to present at the next meeting, if need
be 😊.
