Fellow Workers, Friends, We can be proud that we held a vigil in San Diego County already, last night. It is good and vital to see people everywhere now doing it. I am forwarding just one of many national groups' email about mobilizing (see below). Also, here is a link to the webpage from Indivisible, which lists a number of different actions:http://act.indivisibleguide.com/event/stand-in-solidarity-with-charlottesville/search/?source=ultraviolet Please note that the information that 3 "activists" were killed in wrong. One activist woman, a member of both IWW and Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) was killed.2 police officers were also killed when their helicopter crashed. Please join with us tonight and say no to white supremacy.
Yesterday white supremacist terrorists unleashed chaos and violence onto the streets of Charlottesville, Virginia. An anti-racism protester was killed, two police officers died, and dozens were injured. This is not acceptable, and it is time for us to all stand united against racism and hate.
Tonight people of conscience all across America will gather in their communities to reject white supremacism and to stand in unity against racist terrorism. Make no mistake, this is a defining moment for our country.
We must be strong in our rejection of racism in order to stop a movement that has been allowed to fester and grow. Silence is complicity and we must make our voices loud and clear. Please join with us tonight and say no to white supremacy.
While the events in Charlottesville are horrifying, we can defeat those who would tear our country apart. Truth and love are powerful if we join together. Please click here to find a vigil near you.
Thank you for working for peace,
Amy, Stephen, Mariam, and the Win Without War team
P.S. Can’t make it to a vigil? Please consider donating to the fund to pay the medical expenses of those injured and to support the family of Heather Heyer.
