Hello Sanctuary Hamilton,



I’m a graduate student in York-Ryerson’s Joint Graduate Program in
Communication and Culture (Politics & Policy Stream) researching Canada’s
Sanctuary City Movement and the experiences of non-status (illegalized)
immigrants. Specifically, I am looking at Toronto, Hamilton, and new
Ontario sanctuary city movements that have begun to mobilize.



I am writing to inquire if someone from Sanctuary Hamilton would be
available to meet for an interview in the next few weeks? I am in the
process of conducting interviews with different advocacy groups, service
providers, politicians, and researchers in each city. I am interested in
the changes that have occurred since City Hall has passed its ‘Sanctuary
City’ motion. Your experiences would be very beneficial to this research.



To provide more background on myself, and my research, I previously
supported refugee claimants through legal and advocacy support at the
Mennonite Coalition for Refugee Support in Kitchener. As a supporter of the
sanctuary legislation from municipal to provincial, my intention is to
contribute to the field of Canadian focused sanctuary research.



Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this research. I am
available any day of the week with the exceptions of Tuesdays to meet.
Additionally, I am happy to share my findings with the community that
supports the human rights of non-status immigrants.
