Here's the updated call-out for the demo on October 1st that we agreed to
last night. Let me know if there are any comments/changes (by Tuesday
evening if possible). Then we can start sending it out to folks.

cheers,
Caitlin

Hello friends,

Thanks to everyone who got back to us last time, it was great to hear your
energy and interest. Unfortunately the action at SuperCrawl did not end up
happening, but we're following up with you about rescheduling the demo
for *Thursday
October 1st at 4:30pm.*

As a reminder of what we were thinking: we'd like to organize a die-in at
the corner of James and King to keep up momentum on the Refugees Welcome
movement and build an analysis of the relationship between war,
colonialism, displacement, and borders. Specifically we hope to do two
things:
1. Highlight the numbers of displaced people from all countries (including
displaced indigenous peoples of Canada), not just Syria
2. Push people to think beyond private sponsorship as the collective
response to Canada's role in displacement and unfair immigration policies.

As with the previous call, we'd hold this during the daytime and will only
go forward with the idea if there are enough bodies available to make the
event safe. We need at least 5-7 people who can be on the ground and 10-15
supporters to stand around them.

As such, we're emailing you to find out if you'd be available or interested
in being part of the demo (either as a body on the ground or standing with
signs/candles). There would be no speeches and no march, just the die-in,
some signs, and a leaflet to pass out. Sanctuary Hamilton crew would take
care of police and media.

For now, please keep this within closed circles as we work on planning
whether this is feasible.

Please let us know by *Sunday, September 27th* if you are interested and/or
available on October 1st.

Thanks for your ongoing support, we hope we can make this happen!

in soli,
Caitlin, for Sanctuary Hamilton
