Great. I'm sending the following email out to selected people to see if we
have the bodies to make something happen. I suggested either Saturday or
Sunday afternoon - Saturday is better because there are more people, but
Blake might be working. Either way, we'll see which day people are most
available. Do you have a preference, Ajit?
Thanks!
Caitlin
Hello friends,
We're sending this out as a closed call-out for a tentative follow up to
the Refugees Welcome rally held on Sept 5th.
We'd like to organize a demo during Super Crawl to keep up momentum on this
issue and build an analysis of the relationship between war, colonialism,
displacement, and borders.
Towards this, we're looking for people who would be interested in holding a
small 'die-in' at a location along James St. We'd hold this during the
daytime and will only go forward with the idea if there are enough bodies
available to make the event safe. We need at least 5-7 people who can be
on the ground and 10-15 supporters to stand around them.
As such, we're emailing you to find out if you'd be available or interested
in being part of the demo (either as a body on the ground or standing with
signs/candles). There would be no speeches and no march, just the die-in,
some signs, and maybe a leaflet to pass out.
For now, please keep this within closed circles as we work on planning
whether this is feasible. If you know someone we missed in this call out
who would like to participate, feel free to pass the email along but don't
disseminate the call widely yet.
Please let us know by *Thursday evening (tomorrow)* if you are interested
and/or available either Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
