La Asociación Fraternidad Hispana ha recibido una carta de Hamilton Sanctuary City Coalition, que resumimos a continuación:

Como parte de nuestro continuo compromiso con la justicia por los inmigrantes en se está realizando una campaña para detener los cambios que el gobierno canadiense quiere hacer al programa de trabajadores migrantes temporales que provocaría que muchos de ellos pierdan el permiso de trabajo y sean deportados después de 4 años y se les prohíba entrar a Canadá por otros cuatro años.

Invitamos a la comunidad a apoyar la campaña de las siguientes maneras:

  *   Respaldando públicamente la campaña y compartiendo con sus contactos la petición en internet pidiendo al gobierno suspender esa medida.
  *   Participando las concentraciones en diferentes ciudade de Canadá. En Hamilton será frente al edificio federal (55 Bay St N, Hamilton) el miércoles 1 de abril para protestar por el efecto que estos cambios tendrán.
A partir del 1 de abril el gobierno canadiense va a implementar una normativa que va a afectar a cerca de 65,000 trabajadores que estarán afectados con la deportación. Queremos asegurarnos de que la creciente oposición en Hamilton a las restricciones que se coloca sobre la inmigración sean escuchadas.

GRUPOS DE TRABAJADORES MIGRANTES EN CANADÁ INFORMAN DE LA AMENAZA DE LA LEY LLAMADA 4 Y 4
El próximo 1 de abril entrará en vigencia en Canadá el artículo 4 y 4, entrará en vigencia. Según estas normas, los trabajadores de bajos salarios en el programa de trabajadores temporales extranjeros y domésticas que han sido empleados en Canadá durante uno o más períodos que sumen cuatro años se les negará la permanencia y serán deportados. Ellos tendrán prohibido volver a entrar a Canadá como trabajadores por los siguientes cuatro años. Más de 62.000 trabajadores actualmente en Canadá y muchos otros que entran al país se verán afectados. El hecho de que estos trabajadores hayan sido capaces de mantener un puesto de trabajo durante cuatro años demuestra que su trabajo es permanente, no temporal.

Como respuesta a estos cambios, varios grupos de apoyo a los trabajadores migrantes en Canadá se han unido para lanzar la Campaña contra un límite de 4 años sobre los trabajadores migrantes.

Esta campaña es organizada por:
Fuerza Puwersa (Guelph), Migrant Workers Alliance for Change which includes Alliance of South Asian Aid Prevention (Toronto), Asian Community Aids Services (Ontario), Caregivers Action Centre (Ontario), Industrial Accident Victims' Group of Ontario, Justicia for Migrant Workers (Ontario), KAIROS Canada, Legal Assistance of Windsor, Migrante Ontario, No One Is Illegal - Toronto, Parkdale Community Legal Services, Social Planning Toronto, UNIFOR (Canada), United Food and Commercial Workers (Canada), Workers United and the Workers' Action Centre (Toronto), Migrante Alberta, Radical Action with Migrants in Agriculture (Okanagan Valley) and Sanctuary City Hamilton.
