Thanks for getting back to me. December 10 is the anniversary of the signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and every year, Group 1 Hamilton of Amnesty International organizes a public lecture on a theme relating to human rights. This year we would like to join with your group to highlight the fact that Hamilton is a Sanctuary City. The meeting is open to public and generally goes from about 6:30 to 10:00. For the last few years, we have held it at the First Unitarian Church on Dundurn but we are open to holding it elsewhere.
At the meeting, besides presenting a public lecture, letters to officials in support of wrongly imprisoned people from around the world are prepared so that people may sign them and also write a card of support to the person themselves.
We are hoping that your group will designate a speaker and also help us in promoting this event.
Our next meeting is October 8 and, if possible, we would like to have an answer as to our request before then.
