Hi folks

Hope you are all well. I just wanted to send a quick update about the
Health for All Ontario campaign visioning session in Toronto last weekend
as our next meeting is going to be mostly consensus training stuff.

The meeting was attended by about 20 people, mostly from Toronto, but with
me and two folks from Guelph (from Fuerza Puwersa). Folks were really keen
to get out some concrete goals and tasks to go forwards with. I think a
lot of what was planned out is going to get sent around in an email, so I'm
not going to go into a lot of it. I did make it clear that we aren't in a
position to take on organizing work right now, but one of the central goals
folks had was to try and avoid having the campaign be too Toronto centric,
which I thought was really positive. One thing that came out of this was a
specific task for organizers in Toronto to connect with folks in other
cities and draw from their experience about what issues are most pressing,
what myths and discourses most prevalent, etc. Most of the other tasks
were also geared at this kind of base-building.

Another interesting suggestion was working with frontline workers in social
services to organize them to refuse to give information or access to CBSA,
something that is happening increasingly. This was phrased as taking space
back from CBSA but also as building connections between different workers.

Anyway, lots of great stuff. I'm happy to talk more about this at another
meeting, but I just wanted to give folks a general sense if you were
wondering. Let me know if you have any specific questions or want more
info.

See you all on the 17th!

cheers,
Caitlin
