Subject: [RhythmAgogo] Meeting Tonight; Upcoming Stuff

Hello!

*Meeting*

So, let's meet tonight, 7-9 pm. I say we meet at The Capitol. I will buy us

a plate of nachos, so no one need feel pressure to buy anything. I hope

that works for you all.

I've had discussions with a few band members individually, and my hope is

that we don't in fact need any further intervention in regards to the

previously discussed tensions. I know that everyone's intentions are good.

I think there are some structural changes and clarifications we could make

as a group that would help on a lot of fronts. Some of these, which I wish

to formally propose tonight, are delineated below. If you have any

additional agenda items or counter-proposals, whether or not you can make

it tonight (or general feedback, if you can't), please feel free to send

them to me, and I will make sure these are included.

*Proposals*

-That I take on a more standard "music director" role for the group. This

would mean I would plan and direct practices, and that, while taking into

account feedback from the group, would make the final decisions around

rhythms, instrumentation, and set lists.

-That we return to using the listserv for official group decision-making,

the Coffee House page for sharing of fun and interesting things that

inspire us, and our regular practice times for practice, with minimal

discussion. This is not to say that we can't socialize during practices!

The idea here is to put the focus of our Monday nights on the music, and

try to redirect group planning discussions to a single venue (the listserv)

to make it easier to keep track of what has been discussed and decided.

(The exception, of course, would be in-person meetings like the one we're

having tonight.)

Those are the main things I have. I am open to all feedback. Here are a

couple of other things:

*T-Shirts*

They have been ordered! I think we can actually expect them within three

weeks, this time.

*Oct 1st*

We will be hosting the first of three youth drumming workshops at White

Buffalo this Saturday, from 1:00-3:30 pm. I am happy to direct this one

with sectional support, if that works for everyone else. I say we meet at

11:30 am at The Park Cafe for brunch and last-minute planning, which I

think should do it. Everybody in? And can someone please take on

transporting drums?

*Oct 14th*

We do not yet have enough *yays* to confirm. If you are reasonably certain

you can make if for this gig, please say so now!

*Oct 15th*

I am not available that day, and neither is Julie. Would one of you who is

able to make it please volunteer to bottomline thisone? There will need to

be a director or directors for the workshop activities, and someone to

transport the drums; these need not be the same people.

Thanks for all your patience and good will of late, amig at s. Talk to you

soon!

Neil
