[RhythmAgogo] Tonight and This Week

*Tonight: Rehearsal*
Regular bat time, regular bat channel. Some of us will likely be migrating
to a pub afterwards (possibly Winston's?) to follow the election results
and celebrate and/or drown our sorrows.

*Thursday: Gig*
We are the headliners for Get It Up!, the launch party and fundraiser for
Sexual Health Centre Saskatoon! To quote their Facebook and Picatic event
pages, "This event will feature music by Rhythm Agogo, which we hope will
get everyone dancing."

They would like us to play from 8:30 to 9:30 or so. This will obviously be
by far the longest set we’ve ever played. I figure we should brush up on
all the songs we’ve practiced together more than once: Funk, Samba Reggae,
Bhangra, Voodoo, and Zombie (the Afrobeat tune by Fela Kuti, introduced to
us by David), and aside from that, do some jams, throw in some solos (no
pressure on anyone who’s not up for it, of course), and maybe try to get
some audience participation going. It just occurred to me, we could even do
a found object jam… put down our instruments and wander around the
audience, tapping on glasses and bottles, drumming on chairs… I’ve always
wanted to do that! Thoughts?

If you are planning to be there, please let me know, and I will get your
name on the guest list. Jillian, the coordinator, is also going to make
sure we get some food and drink tickets. Yay! This is gonna be a good one,
folks =)

*Friday: Jam*

Should be fun! Fred/Lauren, please remind me/us of the address? Also, would
one of you like to describe the event again? Rhythm Agogo are going to sort
of lead and inspire the jam that will follow dinner, yes? Do potluck
contributions all have to be made from fermented foods, or is that just
highly encouraged? Start time? Anything else we should know? Thanks!
