Congrats on your work with Folkfest and the Brazilian community! Having an opportunity in a festival like Folkfest is a great experience!
I love the vibe in the mission and vision... well done! It may need to be edited for a formal article of organization, but I think it clearly provides a basis that governs our direction, ethics and decision making!
I love Sudhir's offer, and think car-pooling is a worthy consideration if we were to weigh it as an option for leasing space to meet.
Collaboration... I've still been jonesing over the prospect of incorporating Indo-Asian percussion into an ensemble. Between Jebunessa, Sudhir and possibly Prosad, I believe we could really progress! Partnerships in salsa and Middle Eastern (belly dancing) percussion still need to be developed.
I continue to be very busy musically... Brett Wilson of Dragon's Den fame tweeted about our (The Steadies) recent appearance in Waskesiu! Upcoming, I have a wedding performance in Edmonton on the long weekend, a couple more solo performances, and a couple more Steadies performances in town... One you may be as excited about as I am is that we are opening for Delhi 2 Dublin at Louis' on October 14th!!!
Keep going strong.I'm so excited about what you are doing! Will gather my other thoughts on the financial umbrella corporation we've discussed forming to further incubate opportunities for Rhythm Agogo!

I am in and ready to roll. Just let me know what I am suppose to do and when?If you do not find place to play, I can offer my garage but the downside is it is 6 kilometre south of Stonebridge. The garage is heated and has ample room.

Hi folks!
So, Folkfest was pretty great. Thanks to everyone who came out!
How would you feel about getting together for our next rehearsal on Monday, August 31st, after this short summer break? Or should we wait until Monday, Sept. 7th? Is Monday still the best overall date for people, going into the fall? In response to some feedback I've had lately, I think we should spend some time just jamming, and maybe practice soloing and improvisation in general, if folks are into that.
On the practice space front, I have just written and sent a letter to the board of The Stand (the organizing centre attached to Turning the Tide Bookstore) requesting regular Monday night rentals starting at 8pm. Hopefully we'll hear from them soon. I'm hopeful a small storage space will also be possible, but I told them we'd be interested in renting practice space even if it's not.
On the collaboration front, I'll be meeting tomorrow evening with Jebunnessa Chapola, who is very enthusiastic about getting together with us for some sort of exchange. Hopefully she and I can work out a proposal we can bring back to our respective groups. I'll let you know!
To follow up on our one working group meeting so far, here is what the Vision and Mission Statement generating session came up with. If you get a chance, please take a look and offer any feedback you may have. Thanks!https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzPdP6cuwlE0dXU0ZlV6eHU5ZWM
And maybe we can have a fundraising planning meeting soon? (How's that for a string of gerunds!) Who's interested? And maybe we can get this nonprofit drive rolling (Corey, Chelsea)?
Anyway, keep on rocking (and rolling and swinging and skanking and waltzing and grooving) in the free world!
Neil
