The Cinematheque is showing another virtual feature film for free and it ends
tomorrow.

/Cured <https://thecinematheque.ca/films/2021/cured> /is a brilliant portrayal
of the movement to remove Homosexuality from the Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual (aka DSM) that is used to label people as mentally ill.

We just saw it and it's beautifully put together, extremely well produced, and
riveting, for all ages.

It's also shows how "science" is misused, if it is even used at all.  One
shocking fact revealed that a study was done in the early 1950s that showed that
homo- and hetero-sexuals could not be distinguished in the results of an
extensive psychology survey, even when renowned experts from many different
parts of the world were given the results to analyse.  The author concluded that
the results showed that there were no cognitive or psychological differences
between the two groups.  It wasn't until 1973 that the DSM was changed, after an
enormous amount of effort and millions of lives horribly affected.

Many of the heroes and heroines were alive to tell their story directly in this
80 minute doc, released last year.

It will finish it's virtual run tomorrow/Thursday, so you've got 24 hours to
catch it...and it's free!
