It's one of my favourite times of the year: the 20th Annual European Film
Festival <http://www.thecinematheque.ca/eufilmfestival> at the Cinematheque
<http://www.thecinematheque.ca> in Downtown Vancouver.
It continues until December 4, so don't delay. Each film plays only once so
there's no 2nd chances.
On Thursday, November 30 at 6:30pm, /Little Wing
<http://www.thecinematheque.ca/eufilmfestival/little-wing>/ takes to the sky and
big screen from Finland.
In classic Scandanavian fashion, /Little Wing
<http://www.thecinematheque.ca/eufilmfestival/little-wing>/ is a wonderful look
at modern life with an accent on the subtleties of psychology.
It spoke loudly to me as a father of a 12 year old daughter. Verpu turns 12 and
embarks on a relentless search for her birth father. Her mother is loving but
literally needs Verpu to take care of her!
The maturity and determination of this 12 year old mirrors what I've witnessed
beautifully; the emotional score of Selma Vilhunen's first feature is impressive
and wholly convincing.
And remember, it only plays once: Thursday, November 30 at 6:30pm at the
Cinematheque <http://www.thecinematheque.ca> in Downtown Vancouver. Enjoy!

Did you know that in Scandinavia...
--> there are laws protecting children from all forms of spanking and bullying,
even from parents
--> these laws do not imprison or punish parents but instead raise awareness
(http://www.empathicparenting.org)
--> the elderly are able to remain at home thanks to programs that provide free
meals, free transportation, and free care/
