Alcohol is indeed crazy water
<http://thecinematheque.ca/framesofmind/crazywater> and this film is blunt and
refreshing in so many ways.

Dennis Allen is an Inuvialuit filmmaker who not only has made a hard-hitting,
engaging documentary, he makes it a beautiful work of art, too.

The indigenous folks that have struggled with substance abuse are brutally
honest and breathtakingly strong. This film depicts the worst of living in a
civilized world but also inspires the audience to overcome whatever addictions
they may face, too.

As part of the Cinematheque'sFrames of Mind Monthly Mental Health Series
<http://www.thecinematheque.ca/framesofmind>, which runs monthly, there will be
a post-screening discussion with Dr. Naomi Dove, a Public Health Physician at
the First Nations Health Authority, and Dr. Shannon Tania Waters, Acting Senior
Medical Officer at the First Nations Health Authority and a member of Stz'uminus
First Nation on Vancouver Island, all of which is moderated by Dr. Harry
Karlinsky, Clinical Professor, Department of Psychiatry, University of British
Columbia.

Crazywater <http://thecinematheque.ca/framesofmind/crazywater> screens
Wednesday, October 15 @ 7:30pm at the Cinematheque, 1131 Howe Street in Downtown
Vancouver.

Did you know that in Scandinavia...
--> there are laws protecting children from all forms of spanking and bullying,
even from parents
--> these laws do not imprison or punish parents but instead raise awareness
(http://www.empathicparenting.org)
--> the elderly are able to remain at home thanks to programs that provide free
meals, free transportation, and free care/
