Venezuelan human rights organization.

*YHAMIR CHABUR, *Colombian American, born and raised in Queens NYC. Yhamir
works as a Tenant organizer in NYC and is political analyst with the
Pan-Latin Americanist group - Troika Kollective. Yhamir has done delegation
and solidarity work in Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela.

*WILLIAM CAMACARO,* U.S.-Venezuelan organizer living in New York City,
organizer with the Alliance for Global Justice (AFGJ) and founder of the
Alberto Lovera Bolivarian Circle. Senior Research Fellow at the Council on
Hemispheric Affairs (COHA).

On April 18, 2024, the U.S. Biden administration announced it will not be
renewing a temporary license granted to some U.S. companies to trade with
Venezuela's state-owned oil and gas sector. These sanctions are only one
part of the cruel U.S. sanctions and blockade on Venezuela, but their
re-imposition is an attempt to bring increasing hardship to the people of
Venezuela, especially as they prepare for the July 2024, presidential
election.

The U.S. blockade and sanctions are collective punishment against the
people of Venezuela, who are denied access to food, medicines, and basic
necessities because of this criminal policy.  Despite this, the people of
Venezuela continue to defend their rights to sovereignty and
self-determination against U.S.-led imperialist attacks and intervention in
their internal affairs.

At this month’s picket action, we will hear from organizers and activists
who know firsthand the horrible impacts of the U.S. imposed blockade and
sanctions on Venezuela, especially through the experiences of Venezuelan
migrants.  Join in on Tuesday, April 23 to unite our voices and demand:
US/Canada Hands Off Venezuela!

>> Picket action organized by Fire This Time Movement for Social Justice
Venezuela Solidarity Campaign, Venezuela Peace Committee in Winnipeg, and
Just Peace Advocates with the support of Venezuela solidarity organizations
and individuals across Canada.

*** Everyone is encouraged to make protest signs, display banners, or wear
t-shirts in solidarity with Venezuela. These can be displayed in a group
photo at the end of the online picket! But don’t worry if you don’t have a
sign - your participation is the greatest sign of solidarity.

*This event will be broadcast from Vancouver, BC, Canada, the traditional
and unceded territories of the Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilwətaɁɬ), the Musqueam
(xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), and the Squamish (Skwxwú7mesh) Coast Salish Nations.*

El 18 de abril de 2024, la administración Biden de Estados Unidos anunció
que no renovará una licencia temporal otorgada a algunas empresas
estadounidenses para comerciar con el sector estatal de petróleo y gas de
Venezuela. Estas sanciones son solo una parte de las crueles sanciones y el
bloqueo de los Estados Unidos contra Venezuela, pero su reimposición es un
intento de traer dificultades cada vez mayores al pueblo de Venezuela,
especialmente mientras se prepara para las elecciones presidenciales de
julio de 2024.

El bloqueo y las sanciones de Estados Unidos son un castigo colectivo
contra el pueblo de Venezuela, a quien se le niega el acceso a alimentos,
medicinas y necesidades básicas debido a esta política criminal. A pesar de
esto, el pueblo de Venezuela continúa defendiendo sus derechos a la
soberanía y la autodeterminación contra los ataques imperialistas liderados
por Estados Unidos y la intervención en sus asuntos internos.

En el piquete de este mes, escucharemos a organizadores y activistas que
conocen de primera mano los horribles impactos del bloqueo y las sanciones
impuestas por Estados Unidos a Venezuela, especialmente a través de las
experiencias de los migrantes venezolanos. Únase el martes 23 de abril para
unir nuestras voces y exigir: ¡Estados Unidos y Canadá, no toquen a
Venezuela!
