Fire This Time Movement for Social Justice encourages our supporters to

*Chaired by ALISON BODINE* Coordinator of the Fire This Time Movement for
Social Justice Venezuela Solidarity Campaign and author of “Revolution and
Counter-Revolution in Venezuela.” (Battle of Ideas Press, 2018)

During a recent hearing of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee,
Democratic Senator Bob Menendez, the Chairman of the Committee threatened,
“Unilateral concessions to a leader that tortures his political opponents
is unacceptable. It’s not the path towards a successful negotiation. And
it’s something the Biden administration—as well as newly elected leaders
across Latin America—should keep in mind.”

Senator Menendez is demonizing President Maduro and the government of
Venezuela, justifying brutal U.S. sanctions and blockade which impact all
aspects of life in Venezuela. Sanctions by the U.S. government and their
allies including Canada, continue to deny people in Venezuela access to
food, medicines, and basic necessities.

Venezuelan diplomat Alex Saab, who is currently unjustly held in U.S.
prisons, was en route to Iran to negotiate a deal to alleviate the effects
of the sanctions, enabling Venezuela to receive more fuel, food, and
medical supplies. Alex Saab was abducted at the command of the U.S.
government. He was arbitrarily imprisoned and tortured for over a year in
Cape Verde before being kidnapped and sent to the U.S.

Join in the online picket action to hear important updates about the case
of Alex Saab, directly from Camilla Saab, who is leading the campaign for
his freedom in Venezuela. This picket will also share perspectives from
organizers in solidarity with Venezuela from the U.S., and Canada.

Time Movement for Social Justice Venezuela Solidarity Campaign, and Just
Peace Advocates with the support of Venezuela solidarity organizations and
individuals across Canada.

*** Everyone is encouraged to make protest signs, display banners, or wear
t-shirts in solidarity with Venezuela. These can be displayed in a group
photo at the end of the online picket! But don’t worry if you don’t have a
sign - your participation is the greatest sign of solidarity.

Durante una audiencia reciente del Comité de Relaciones Exteriores del
Senado de EE.UU., el senador Demócrata Bob Menéndez, presidente del comité,
amenazó: “Las concesiones unilaterales a un líder que tortura a sus
oponentes políticos son inaceptables. No es el camino hacia una negociación
exitosa. Y es algo que la administración de Biden, así como los líderes
recién elegidos en América Latina, deben tener en cuenta”.

El Senador Menéndez está demonizando al Presidente Maduro y al gobierno de
Venezuela, justificando las brutales sanciones y bloqueos de los Estados
Unidos que impactan todos los aspectos de la vida en Venezuela. Las
sanciones del gobierno de los EE.UU. y sus aliados, incluido Canadá,
continúan brindando a las personas en Venezuela acceso a alimentos,
medicamentos y artículos de primera necesidad.

El diplomático venezolano Alex Saab, quien actualmente se encuentra
