Featuring:

GIUVEL OROZCO ORTEGA - Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission of the Cuban Embassy in Canada. He earned his bachelor degree in Law. He has served as a diplomat during both permanent missions and official delegations abroad.

AILEEN CARMENATY SÁNCHEZ - Born in 1993, Aileen is the Press and Cultural Attaché of the Cuban Embassy in Canada, in charge of academic, sports and solidarity exchanges. Previously Aileen worked at the United States division of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as the Cuban Embassy in Washington DC.

Join Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba and our distinguished Cuban guests for a discussion about the importance of Cuba's new Family Code and the mass democratic meetings and conversations taking place across the island.

 

The new Family Code addresses many important issues around marriage, parental responsibilities, adoption, the rights of children, discrimination and violence in the family, the rights of extended family, and same sex marriage.

 

Recently Alina Balseiro Gutiérrez, president of the National Electoral Council, informed Cuban deputies to the National Assembly about the results of recent consultations on Family Code. Between February and April 2022, more than 6 million Cubans have participated in the popular consultation process on the draft Family Code.

GIUVEL OROZCO ORTEGA - Consejero y Segundo Jefe de Misión de la Embajada de Cuba en Canadá. Obtuvo su licenciatura en Derecho. Se ha desempeñado como diplomático tanto en misiones permanentes como en delegaciones oficiales en el exterior.

El nuevo Código de las Familias aborda muchos temas importantes relacionados con el matrimonio, las responsabilidades de los padres, la adopción, la familia ampliada, los derechos de los niños, la discriminación y la violencia en la familia, y el matrimonio entre personas del mismo sexo.

 

Recientemente Alina Balseiro Gutiérrez, presidenta del Consejo Nacional Electoral, informó a los diputados cubanos a la Asamblea Nacional sobre los resultados de las recientes consultas sobre Código de Familia. Entre febrero y abril de 2022, más de 6 millones de cubanos han participado en el proceso de consulta popular sobre el proyecto de Código de Familia.
