Collective who defended the Embassy of Venezuela in the United States
against right-wing attack and takeover in 2019, a long time supporter of
solidarity with Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, member of Sanctions Kill
Coalition, Task Force on the Americas, and the Democratic Socialists of
America.

*Chaired by ALISON BODINE *Coordinator of the Fire This Time Movement for
Social Justice Venezuela Solidarity Campaign and author of “Revolution and
Counter-Revolution in Venezuela.” (Battle of Ideas Press, 2018)

At the end of June 2022, the U.S. sent a second high-level delegation for
bi-lateral talks with the democratically elected government of President
Maduro in Venezuela. Despite this, the U.S. government and a handful of its
allies, including Canada, continue to recognize U.S. puppet Juan Guaidó as
Venezuela’s “interim President.”

Since March, the U.S. government has lifted some minor sanctions against
Venezuela’s oil industry. However, the overwhelming majority of the brutal
U.S. sanctions remain in place and impact every facet of the lives of the
people of Venezuela, denying them access to food, medicines and basic
necessities.

As people living in the U.S. and Canada, we have the responsibility to
stand with the people of Venezuela as they defend their sovereignty and
self-determination. Join this month’s online picket action to discuss more
about the fight against the sanctions, the possible impact of recent
elections in Latin America on U.S. and imperialist attacks on Venezuela,
and updates on the case of Alex Saab, a Venezuelan diplomat unjustly held
in U.S. jail.

>> Organized by Venezuela Peace Committee in Winnipeg and the Fire This
Time Movement for Social Justice Venezuela Solidarity Campaign, and Just
Peace Advocates with the support of Venezuela solidarity organizations and
individuals across Canada.

*** Everyone is encouraged to make protest signs, display banners, or wear
t-shirts in solidarity with Venezuela. These can be displayed in a group
photo at the end of the online picket! But don’t worry if you don’t have a
sign - your participation is the greatest sign of solidarity.

A fines de junio de 2022, los EE.UU. envió una segunda delegación de alto
nivel para conversaciones bilaterales con el gobierno democráticamente
elegido del presidente Maduro en Venezuela. A pesar de esto, el gobierno de
EE.UU. y un puñado de sus aliados, incluido Canadá, continúan reconociendo
al títere estadounidense Juan Guaidó como el “presidente interino” de
Venezuela.

Desde marzo, el gobierno de los Estados Unidos ha levantado algunas
sanciones menores contra la industria petrolera de Venezuela. Sin embargo,
la gran mayoría de las brutales sanciones de EE.UU. siguen vigentes e
impactan cada faceta de la vida de los venezolanos, negándoles el acceso a
alimentos, medicinas y artículos de primera necesidad.

Como personas que viven en los EE.UU. y Canadá, tenemos la responsabilidad
de apoyar al pueblo de Venezuela en su lucha a defender su soberanía y
autodeterminación. Únase a la acción en línea de este mes para discutir más
sobre la lucha contra las sanciones, el posible impacto de las recientes
elecciones en América Latina en los ataques imperialistas y estadounidenses
contra Venezuela, y actualizaciones sobre el caso de Alex Saab, un
diplomático venezolano detenido injustamente en una cárcel estadounidense.
