As we begin 2022, we must continue to stand together with the people in
Venezuela in defense of Venezuela’s sovereignty and self-determination!
On January 5, 2019, U.S. puppet Juan Guaidó stood on a street corner in
Venezuela and appointed himself “interim President.” This maneuver was yet
another attempt by the government of the United States to overthrow the
democratically elected government of President Maduro – and three years
later it is a complete failure. Today, the U.S. government, and the
government of Canada are among only a handful of countries around the world
that continue to recognize his fake and criminal government.
Meanwhile, the U.S. government continues to persecute Venezuelan diplomat
Alex Saab for his work to secure food and medical contracts for Venezuela
that circumvented the criminal blockade on Venezuela. In June 2021, Alex
Saab was kidnapped from where he was being held in Cabo Verde and taken to
Miami to face trumped-up charges. Alex Saab is a political prisoner in the
U.S. and must be freed immediately.
*** Everyone is encouraged to make protest signs, display banners, or wear
t-shirts in solidarity with Venezuela. These can be displayed in a group
photo at the end of the online picket! But don’t worry if you don’t have a
sign - your participation is the greatest sign of solidarity.

picket action will mark the 12 consecutive month, the first year of actions
that have united people and groups from across Canada against the blockade,

president. The Canadian Foreign Policy Institute (CFPI) will be hosting a
discussion about the Liberal's failed bid to replace the elected government
of Venezuela.

defensa de la soberanía y la autodeterminación de Venezuela!
El 5 de enero de 2019, el títere estadounidense Juan Guaidó se paró en la
esquina de una calle en Venezuela y se nombró a sí mismo “presidente
interino”. Esta maniobra fue otro intento del gobierno de los Estados
Unidos de derrocar al gobierno elegido democráticamente del presidente
Maduro, y tres años después es un completo fracaso. Hoy, el gobierno de los
EE.UU. y el gobierno de Canadá se encuentran entre los pocos países del
mundo que continúan reconociendo su gobierno falso y criminal.
Mientras tanto, el gobierno de EE.UU. continúa persiguiendo al diplomático
venezolano Alex Saab por su trabajo para asegurar contratos de alimentos y
médicos para Venezuela que eludieron el bloqueo criminal a Venezuela. En
junio de 2021, Alex Saab fue secuestrado de donde estaba detenido en Cabo
Verde y llevado a Miami para enfrentar cargos falsos. Alex Saab es un preso
político en los EE.UU. y debe ser liberado de inmediato.

(CFPI, por sus siglas en inglés) organizará una discusión sobre el intento
