General of the Venezuelan Consulate in Vancouver, Wilfredo has held various
positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and public administration
institutions in Venezuela between 1999 and today. He joined the student
struggle from an early age and continues to stand firmly in defense of the
Bolivarian revolution.

*IRMA SOFÍA NAVA* - Leading organizer with Mexico Solidarity with Venezuela
and Spokesperson for CONAICOP (National and International Council of
Popular Communication, an international organizaiton founded in Venezuela),
Mexico. Irma is a member of the Central Committee of the Popular Socialist
Party of Mexico.

*BHAGWANT SANDHU* – Retired director general with the federal government in
Canada, who has also held executive positions in the B.C. and Ontario
provincial governments. Bhagwant is also a writer and analyst with a keen
interest in Canada’s contemporary foreign policy.

On July 29, judicial authorities in England issued yet another ruling that
prevents the rightful return of nearly $2 billion in gold held in the Bank
of England to Venezuela. This continued injustice is just one component of
the brutal sanctions and attacks on the people of Venezuela carried out by
the government of the United States and their allies including England and
Canada.

Despite these attacks, the people of Venezuela have continued to fight back
and defend their right to sovereignty and self-determination. As people
living in the United States and Canada, we have the responsibility to unite
to demand US/Canada Hands Off Venezuela!

At this month’s picket action we will hear updates on the case of Alex
Saab, a Venezuelan diplomat unjustly held in U.S. jail, Venezuelan aid to
Cuba in response to the Matanzas diesel tank fires, and reports from on the
ground in Venezuela.

>> Organized by Venezuela Peace Committee in Winnipeg and the Fire This
Time Movement for Social Justice Venezuela Solidarity Campaign, and Just
Peace Advocates with the support of Venezuela solidarity organizations and
individuals across Canada.

*** Everyone is encouraged to make protest signs, display banners, or wear
t-shirts in solidarity with Venezuela. These can be displayed in a group
photo at the end of the online picket! But don’t worry if you don’t have a
sign - your participation is the greatest sign of solidarity.

El 29 de julio, las autoridades judiciales de Inglaterra emitieron otro
fallo que impide la devolución legítima de casi 2.000 millones de dólares
en oro retenidos en el Banco de Inglaterra a Venezuela. Esta continua
injusticia es solo un componente de las brutales sanciones y ataques contra
el pueblo de Venezuela llevados a cabo por el gobierno de los Estados
Unidos y sus aliados, incluidos Inglaterra y Canadá.

A pesar de estos ataques, el pueblo de Venezuela ha seguido luchando y
defendiendo su derecho a la soberanía y la autodeterminación. Como personas
que viven en los Estados Unidos y Canadá, tenemos la responsabilidad de
unirnos para exigir ¡EE.UU./Canadá Manos Fuera de Venezuela!

En la acción de este mes escucharemos actualizaciones sobre el caso de Alex
Saab, un diplomático venezolano detenido injustamente en una cárcel de los
EE. UU., la ayuda venezolana a Cuba en respuesta a los incendios del tanque
de diesel de Matanzas e informes sobre el terreno en Venezuela.
