*Vancouver rally for UN International Peace Day to condemn Canadian arms
sales to Saudi Arabia*

Sunday, Sept. 20, 3:30-5 pm, Vancouver Public Library (Robson Street side)

(Please circulate widely.)

Anti-war and labour groups in a number of Canadian cities are mobilizing
to mark the annual United Nations International Peace Day, focusing on
Canada's ongoing arms exports to the reactionary Saudi Arabian monarchy.

Last June 11, the first pan-Canadian day of action against arms exports
to Saudi Arabia saw local actions in Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa,
Vancouver, Kitchener-Waterloo, Mississauga, Niagara and outside the
General Dynamics Land Systems plant in London, Ontario. The day of
action was endorsed by CUPE Ontario, CUPE National, and the Canadian
Labour Congress. Labour Against the Arms Trade has continued to work
with Amnesty International, Oxfam Canada, Project Ploughshares, Critical
Will, People for Peace London and other coalition partners to ensure
that arms conversion for peaceful green production is central to ongoing
efforts to bring an end to arms exports to Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen continues and with the
COVID-19 pandemic intensifying the world's worst humanitarian crisis our
efforts to bring an end to arms exports to Saudi are needed now more
than ever.

Please join the organizers of this event in Vancouver to make your
voices heard on this critical issue, and on other aspects of the
struggle for global peace and disarmament! /(Yes, we know that UN
International Peace Day is actually on Monday, Sept. 21, but Sunday was
more suitable for an activity here.)/
