While the people of Cuba have been living under a U.S. government-imposed blockade for over 60 years, the cruelty of this policy has never been as clear as during the ongoing global Covid-19 pandemic. During this time of crisis, U.S. President Donald Trump has introduced new measures meant to strangle Cuba’s economy, including attempts to cut-off Cubans from remittances sent from family members in the U.S., and ordering the Marriott Hotel in Havana to close.

The current situation has exposed the two distinct paths chosen by the U.S. and Cuba for dealing with the global pandemic. While the U.S. further threatens and blockades its neighbour; Cuba has been reaching out to its neighbours leading in the fight against Covid-19, sending hundreds of doctors around the world. As of August 8, there are 42 ‘Henry Reeve’ International Medical Brigades combating the pandemic in 38 countries around the world.

Please join the Canadian Network on Cuba and our allies in the Cuba solidarity movement on September 17 for our 5th monthly virtual protest action. We will be united from across Canada and around the world in demanding: Lift the Blockade on Cuba Now!

It will be a continuation of coordinated monthly protests against the U.S. blockade which have been taking place in Vancouver, Ottawa and Montreal, Canada and Kiev, Ukraine on the 17th of each month since 2015.

Organized by the Canadian Network on Cuba (CNC), a network of Cuba solidarity organizations across Canada promoting friendship and solidarity with Cuba and the Cuban people.
